Ismet Kursunoglu, MD, FCCP , is an expert in diseases of the lungs(Chest) with additional training in general Internal Medicine. He has 25 years of experience and is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. In addition to practicing general adult and adolescent medicine he is our local expert in the evaluation and treatment of patients with asthma/COPD, sarcoidosis and asbestos related lung diseases.

He also provides complete pre-operative evaluations. Dr. Kursunoglu works closely with surgeons regionally here in Alaska, and with surgeons throughout the lower 48 to ensure that you are fully prepared from a medical perspective for anesthesia and any surgical procedure. By conducting a careful and complete clinical assessment and incorporating appropriate laboratory and imaging data Dr. Kursunoglu will prepare and submit to your surgeon a completed report with detailed recommendations regarding your pre-operative management. Such analysis is critical in predicting and preventing operative and anesthesia related complications.

Dr. Kursunoglu also provides consultations for patients with cough, shortness of breath, sleep disturbances, snoring, pulmonary embolism/venous thromboembolism (clots/phlebitis/deep vein thrombosis of the legs), sinus diseases and infections, chest pain, exercise limitation, pneumonia, GERD, hypertension, cholesterol, lipid disorders and treatment of environmental and job/occupational related lung disease.

Doug Vermillion, MD is an experienced orthopedic specialist who sees patients for both operative as well as non-operative treatments including SYNVISC® treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee. Dr. Vermillion also brings state-of-the art advanced cartilage repair technologies to the State of Alaska, including
